Welcome to Little Saplings where we believe every child is unique

Little Saplings Pre-school is an early years setting offering high quality early years education to children aged 2, 3 and 4 years old.  We are located in the picturesque village of Lawshall, just outside of Bury St. Edmunds, within the grounds of All Saints CEVC Primary School, Lawshall. The Buttercup building was previously used as a pre-school prior to its sad closure in October 2023, where it had been established for over 26 years. Thanks to a dedicated and proactive committee team, we opened up communication with the Headmistress and Board of Governors of the school and started to work incredibly hard to gain charity registration with the Charity Commission, fundraise and launch Little Saplings.

At the heart of our vision is promoting the importance of community, resilience, confidence and respect. We promote overall development through learning through play, with guidance from ‘Development Matters’ - the non-statutory curriculum guidance for the Early Years Foundation Stage (Department for Education,  updated September 2023) click here.

Our building is known as the Buttercup building and is a purpose built, delightful, calming space for children as they begin their journey into education.  We are very fortunate to have our own interactive garden which is safe and secure and is accessible all year round.  The garden is very spacious for inventive play and we have a large selection of outdoor toys, sand pits and water tables for the children to enjoy. The covered mud kitchen area and utensils are perfect for your budding chefs to get their little hands dirty.

Around the side of the building we have a fenced area where we have a small allotment perfect for teaching the children about the environment and growing flowers and seasonal vegetables all year round. We have a local gardening club attend the pre-school and help the children to plant their seeds and harvest the fruits of their labour.
